TAMIU Transmits Third Session of Inter-university Literary Seminar on Spanish American Short Novel

The third session of the inter-university, international seminar, “Plural Writings: Theory and Praxis of the Short Novel,” will take place at Texas A&M International University’s Western Hemispheric Trade Center Friday, June 24, from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.

This free inter-university seminar delves into the study of Spanish American short novels or nouvelles. It will transmit live in Spanish via a video conference system from TAMIU.

Presenters and participants include scholars and students from, Paris-Sorbonne University, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara and TAMIU.

This session features four presenters. Their names and presentation titles include: Elsa Rodriguez Brondo, “Conceptualism in the Recent Short Novel  in Mexico” (UNAM); Gabriel Enríquez Hernández, “Mother’s Hands by Nellie Campobello: The Adaptation of the Moral Frame to the Short Novel” (UNAM); Juan Tomás Martínez, “Yuri Herrera and the Short Novel: Notes on a Poetic” (Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara); Dr. Irma Cantú, “The Giantess of Patricia Laurent Kullick: A Walk Through Spanish Naturalism” (TAMIU).

All seminar sessions are free and open to professors, University seniors, graduate students of Spanish and to those interested in this topic.

Dr. José Cardona-López, TAMIU professor of Spanish and Spanish American Literature, will spearhead the transmission from TAMIU. His colleagues and co-organizers from Paris and México City will join in virtually.
